We are a lively, informal group that enjoys chatting about books. Generally, we read on a different theme each month - each member choosing their own book to introduce to the group; but sometimes we all read the same book, and sometimes we concentrate on one particular author and each read one book they have written. All themes, books, authors are chosen by the group.
Our new programme is now available. This starts in January 2026 and we look forward to an excellent year of reading. Click on the link to see our choices.

Our May Meeting
Our meeting with the title "A School Setting" produced quite a range of books. There did seem to be a theme of revenge in several. The books covered murder, killings and war between women as well as some more light hearted stories.
Jodi Picoult: Nineteen Minutes
Andrew Taylor: A schooling in Murder
Lucinder Riley: The Murders at Fleat House
Elenor Scott: War among ladies
Joanne Harris: Gentlemen and Players
Muriel Spark: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Enid Blyton: The Twins at St Clare's
Gervase Phinn: Secrets of the little Village School
For February the subject "Wartime" gave plenty of possibilities.
Most of the members enjoyed the books they found covering WW2 and Vietnam. In the latter case "The Women" by Kristin Hannah has resulted in a search by others by that author. "Most Secret" by Nevil Shute described action by British and Free-French men. Other books described the effect of the war at home. One book described conditions under Nazi occupation (The Wartime Book Club by Kate Thompson) and the others were: Land Girls: Goodwill House, Saplings, The Rose Code, Wartime at Woolworths and Yours Cheerfully.
