HORTICULTURE

Status:Active, open to new members
When: On Wednesdays 10:00 AM
3rd of month
Venue: Various

We visit gardens and sometimes garden centres during the colder months. Our aim is to admire the displays and appreciate the skill and imagination of the gardeners whether it is an historic garden or a municipal park. Obviously, this is an outdoor activity and involves some walking albeit at a relaxed pace. Usually, we set out in the morning but meeting times vary, as do travel arrangements, depending on the location of the venue. When it is possible, we suggest using public transport but, when necessary, we travel by car so having your own transport is useful. Occasionally a meeting can last a whole day but generally we aim to be home before ‘school time’ in the afternoon. Inevitably a visit to a café or tea-room at the venue will be made.

Recently a small group of us went to Great Comp Gardens near Sevenoaks. There was a great array of colour on show.

Some time ago we enjoyed a visit to Well Hall Pleasaunce and the group repeated our visit to Kew to see the Orchid display in March last year.
