Dartford

LOCAL MORNING WALK

Status:Active, open to new members
When: on Wednesdays 10:00 AM
4th of month
Venue: Various

This walking Group is ideal for those who like a reasonably brisk pace in their walking and who would enjoy sharing a local monthly walk. To give some idea of pace, we cover 5-6 miles in 2-2.5 hours and intend to walk 11 months of the year on the 4th Wednesday each month. In December, this date coincides with Christmas celebrations, so there is no walk in December, but there is in August.

Details

We usually start walking at 10.00. This means we are back by lunchtime (12.00 to 12.30).

We meet at a point in or near Dartford (eg Central Library, Orchard Theatre, Bluewater, Darenth Country Park, Crayford, Watling Street Cemetery). There are rarely refreshments or toilet facilities available on our walks.

Walking shoes with a good tread and suitable clothing e.g. wet weather gear, are required as we often use footpaths rather than pavements.

Members need to join us for a minimum of four walks a year and should be prepared to lead a walk after a settling-in period of several months.

Walks during the last year (2023 -2024) have included:

Dartford Library to Crayford via Dartford Heath

Ebbsfleet station to Bluewater via Castle Hill

Crayford to Erith

Dartford Heath to Wilmington and Rowhill Grange

Greenhithe circular

Watling Street to Bridge estate (circular)

Town tour of Gravesend

Dartford Creek and marsh

Darenth Country Park circular via the Chequers
